A companion to our existing video pack, Living Buddhism, this video pack for upper KS2 and KS3 is a 29-minute tour of one of the many Buddhist places of worship in Britain today: a beautifully converted warehouse in the centre of Manchester. Buddhists explain how their work here expresses their beliefs, and its effect on the local area.
Footage of a real school visit is intercut with interviews and clips of worship, meditation, domestic life and work in the centre's cafe and health centre; allowing pupils a view of people and activities not usually accessible to them on weekday visits. Each section concludes with a question, and the handbook suggests further discussion topics and activities.
The 10 PowerPoint presentations contain the main video clips together with slides containing activities, topics for discussion and recap points. For maximum versatility, we have enabled these to be editable by you.
The Centre is run by the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order and is home to Clear Vision. Use this video tour to amplify or replace an actual visit to a Buddhist place of worship. An excellent resource for RE and Citizenship.
