The Monkey King and other tales

Spiritual, moral, social and cultural

Six stories from the Buddhist tradition
These six stories (three Jataka tales and three stories from the life of the Buddha) have been carefully selected as an ideal way of introducing Buddhist values at Key Stage 1, whether as part of RE, SMSC or Citizenship education.
Each cartoon-illustrated story is preceded by an introduction to its theme (by Neil Clark shown below), such as trust or friendship, helping others, kindly speech or change for the better.
This DVD makes a valuable contribution to children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, and easily extends to Key Stage 2.
In the teacher's handbook, the stories are retold for use in assemblies, and worksheets with differentiated activities enable further exploration of the themes.

...very accessible and simple, yet deeply innocent and spiritual... I really recommend this resource to anyone looking for something worthwhile and valuable to capture the interest and imagination of any child and to engage them in thought and consideration, reaching straight into their heart.

Clear Vision ... is to be congratulated on this well conceived and well executed project. Short, clear commentaries help pinpoint the moral of each story and its relation to contemporary life, while the stories use stills with excellent narration ... to illustrate Buddhist values in action over a range of everyday experiences." This is a superb resource ... teachers will applaud its expertise and professionalism.
